Take care of ur ear~

I came across of two main problem of my ear in this few year..It cost me much of  medical fee in Gleneagles Intan Medical Centre in KL.
Firstly, i got a ear problem where i experiencing pain deep in the ear. The doctor diagnosis that my ear contain too much of what we call 'ear shit' inside my outer ear and it totally block my ear for around 2 week. After doctor use a machine to help me pop out all the dirty, my ear back to normal and i need to eat some antibiotic to clear all the bacteria in my ear.

Secondly, it is another special case i came across recently. I experience the great change in my ear after i had flu. I feel pressure and stuffiness that can't be cleared with coughing and yawning. The pressure totally block my ear after i came back from Genting and take a air flight back from Langkawi. My doctor diagnosis that my ear discomfort may be caused by a Blocked Eustachian Tube. As we see in the diagram above, Eustachian tube located at the middle ear and it connects the middle ear with the back of the nose. If someone get flu, it will block the Eustachian tube and it cause more seriously when you go to high pressure place. It is because the pressure can't out with the block Eustachian Tube and it change to become liquid clogged up in the middle ear. The only cure for this problem, you need to go to ear specialist to check-up and eat the medicine.
How to prevent this?
As i know, a lot of my friends don't know the correct way how to care our ear. I realize that some of the activities we do in the daily will damage our eardrum.

  1. We can't blow our nose hard when got a lot of sinus pressure inside our ear because this will damage our eardrum easily. The correct way to cure this is to eat chewing gum or open your mouth and blow your nose gently to balance our pressure in our ears and nose.
  2. Use cotton swabs to clean around the ear, but not inside of the ear canal. A cotton swab inside of the ear canal could affect the way that the eardrum works.
  3. Wear protective earplugs if you must be exposed to loud noises
  4. Do not smoke and stay away from people who do smoke when possible. In addition to irritating the mucus membrane that lines the lungs, sinuses and nose, cigarette smoke also can cause inflammation around the ear and infect the ear.
  5. Relax the muscles in the jaw. Often ear pain is a residual effect from jaw pain. By relaxing the jaw, you can also reduce the amount of pain felt in the ears. We can do some mouth exercise to relax the muscle in the jaw.
PS: The first and second prevention is very important!!!!Please take care your eardrum because it is very thin membrane in our ear~
